Wilderness Survival BasicsBE PREPARED!
Survival kit:Small tin with polished lid to fit in pocket (in case you lose everything else) Seal outside with tape.
Matches (Water/Windproof type) Candle (light, heat, great fire starter) Magnesium fire starter block, cotton balls. Needles and thread (Gore Tex Floss works great. Also can be used as snare material…..small field mice, squirrels etc.) Small ones for splinters etc. and big straight and curved types for wounds and repairs. Fish hooks and line Compass (may combine with whistle) Small LED light (keychain size) Snare wire ( pretty thin, stainless wire, hobby store or hardware….makes good repairs on packs, boots and snares) Flexible saw (essential for shelter building, animal quartering) Water Purification Tablets Medical kit (Basics include: Aspirin, Codeine, Phenergan anti-nausea, Antibiotics, Imodium. Assortment of band aids and butterfly closures. Scalpel blades. This is emergency use only, when there is no First Aid Kit. Whistle

Mess tin or large metal cup (for cooking, boiling water etc) Fuel (solid fuel tabs and collapsible stove, military surplus) Small Waterproof flashlight with lithium batteries Flares 3 pack small pen sized Marker panel More Matches Brew kit: Tea, coffee, sugar, creamer (MRE come with a small bag of these) Food: High protein / High fat bars, Gatorade pack long shelf life. Emergency blanket Parachute or similar cord. (Shelter building, spears, snares etc.) Seam Grip seam sealer tube. (This stuff fixes all kinds of things and burns well too.)
